My Goals For 2016

My Goals For 2016

I cannot believe that another year has passed again. It feels like it was yesterday when I was complaining about having to get used to writing 2015 instead of 2014 (which was normal to me back then). And now here it comes again. I’ll have to get used to that thing again. Writing 2016 instead of 2015 (to which I finally got used).

But complaining about changes is not why I’m writing this article. No. Although this article is going to be about changes. It’s going to be about changes that I want to do with my life. About changes, I necessarily need to do in my life.

1) Read more.

I used to be a bookworm. In fact, I was the queen of bookworms! But then something went wrong and I stopped reading. Not at all but I only read the same books over and over. So my goal for 2016 is to read a new book (that means a book I haven’t read before) every month. I was given some really wonderful books in English and German which are literally crying for being read.

One book each month is not much, I know. But it’s the beginning.

2) Write more.

Same problem. There were times I could write a site per day. I remember the joy I used to have. And then something went wrong again. I still enjoy writing though but I don’t write so much anymore.

So here is my goal: write something every day. Whether if it’s in Czech or in English, whether it’s fiction or non-fiction, whether it’s hundred words or thousand. I don’t care. But I have to write. I need to write.

3) Study harder.

For about five years I wasn’t doing much for school. In fact, it was almost a miracle when I studied for an exam. (And therefore, my grades looked like the looked.) But things have changed now. I’m in high-school and every grade I get can affect whether I’m accepted to a university or not.

I know I keep saying that for almost all my life but, this time, I am 100% serious. I must study harder.

5) Waste time no more.

Watching youtube videos. Watching TV shows. Watching movies. Reading stupid and useless articles online. I don’t wanna count how many hours have I spent doing that but I am sure that the number is terribly enormous.

I’m not going to lie. I enjoy all of the things I’ve mentioned and I don’t want to stop doing that at all. No, I definitely don’t want that. But a little limit is necessary. So let’s say that: I’ll stop watching anything (TV shows, movies and YTube videos) and watch them only on weekends.

(Well, unless it’s Monday and a new episode of Game of Thrones has aired the day before.)

6) Start working out.

I started doing gymnastics when I was four and I continued doing it until I was about twelve. I replaced gymnastics with atletics but I ended up with that because I had no joy  doing it. Now I only go dancing twice a day and, to be honest, it is clearly visible on my body. (I don’t want to describe it closely because I don’t want to disgust you.)

I was okay with it for almost two years but now I know I have to do something with it. (Or at least, try.)

(I’ll be glad if you leave some comments. Feel also free to check out and follow me on my other social media like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. You can also subscribe to my blog via email so you never ever miss a post.)

By the way, do you have any goals for this year? Don’t forget to share them with me in the comments! I am curious…

    • Thank you so much, Kristin! I know that I won’t miss watching videos and stuff like that, once I pick up a good book and start reading or once I open my notebook and start writing, I know that very well. But doing that one first step was always so hard for me… And as for me going to school, there’s nothing to be impressed about. My grades are starting to be terrible in half of my subjects (e. g. Physics, Geography or Chemistry.)

  1. Great goals! I plan to read and write more too. I have three journals to use, and I’m really excited about them. For reading, I’m starting with cookbooks. The cool thing about good cookbooks is that you can learn history and geography at the same time that you learn to cook. What kind of reading do you like to do?

    • I’m afraid I’m not a big fan of cookbooks. I think, when it comes to cooking, I’m more an experimenting type of person. (“A bit of this and a handful of that and we’ll see if it tastes good.”) My favourite books are those which tell us a powerful story. Those with strong words and characters to remember. Simply stated, I am a fantasy lover. Thank you so much!

  2. Wasting time for me is major. The only new year resolution I made was to not post a status update on my Facebook since I get nothing from doing that. I make my plans via groups, I get blog views in fb groups. I installed the fb groups apps on my phone and just look forward to not wasting time on fb.

I like being active so I joined two Instagram challenges which always keep me accountable.
